OUR JOB OFFER

Reporting to the Vice-President, Consulting, Underwriting and Actuarial, the Underwriting and Actuarial Trainer will be mainly responsible for ensuring training on the processes, procedures and tools used by the Underwriting and Actuarial Unit.

The incumbent is expected to :

    • In cooperation with the Underwriting and Actuarial Director and Assistant Directors, develop, maintain and monitor the new employee training plans and the employee continuous training plan;
    • In cooperation with the Practice Leader, Training, AGA, coordinate the new employee training plans;
    • In cooperation with the Underwriting and Actuarial Director and Assistant Directors, create content for the training programs and tools and ensure these programs meet the need s of employees for whom they are intended;
    • Develop and maintain expertise on the processes, procedures and tools used by Underwriting and Actuarial employees, and on AGA products;
    • Train new and current employees on the processes, procedures and tools, and coordinate required training with the Underwriting and Actuarial Director and Assistant Directors;
    • Actively apply learning assessment strategies to determine the effectiveness of training solutions and foster continuous improvement;
    • Provide regular progress reports on employee training and/or projects under the responsibility of the Operational Efficiency team (training and procedures);
    • Take part in the preparation and facilitation of the monthly continuous training meeting in cooperation with the Assistant Directors;
    • Cooperate with the Operational Efficiency team and the Underwriting and Actuarial Director and Assistant Directors to identify, prioritize and address any ad-hoc training need (individual or team);
    • Contribute to the development or creation of some tools and/or processes to improve team effectiveness;
    • Contribute to the management of tests required when developing or updating software or work tools;
    • As needed, coordinate and deliver any training required on underwriting and actuarial for the other AGA departments;
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • University degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science or combination of relevant training and experience;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in group insurance and underwriting;
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Expertise in andragogy / pedagogy, guidance / coaching, priority management and ability to work independently;
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication and ability to promote engaging learning experiences;
  • Resilience and versatility in evolving environments;
  • Relevant experience in workplace training (asset);
  • Excellent command of English and French, written and spoken.
