AGA Benefit Solutions is proud to announce that it has acquired the operations of Quikcard Solutions, a well-known provider of health care spending accounts (HSAs), wellness spending accounts (WSAs), ASO plan administration, and other employee benefits solutions. Founded in 1989 in Edmonton (Alberta), Quickard has established a solid reputation as a dynamic employee benefits provider in Western Canada and the rest of the country.

Since 2020, AGA has transformed from a regional player to a national benefits leader through a mix of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Following the 2021 acquisition of PPI Benefits, AGA became the owner of BeneFitsMyWay, one of Canada’s major HSA/WSA brands; with this new transaction, AGA is reaffirming its commitment towards this product line as a key element of its benefit offering for Canadian organizations.

Through this acquisition, AGA adds a third office in Western Canada in Edmonton, in addition of its existing Calgary and Vancouver locations. Shawn Stals, who was acting until the transaction as Quikcard’s CEO, is joining the AGA team as National Director, Spending Account Solutions.

“Quikcard’s acquisition checks multiple boxes for AGA. On top of enabling an increased presence in Western Canada, we are making strides in the spending accounts product family, an important niche market supporting thousands of Canadian employers who want simple and predictable benefit solutions to attract and retain employees,” says Martin Papillon, AGA’s President and CEO. “The combined strength of Quikcard and BeneFitsMyWay will provide unparalleled product expertise backed by robust systems and great client support – truly embodying AGA’s mission to offer the best of people and technology to our clients, plan members and partners.”

“For years, Quikcard has distinguished itself through innovative technologies and unwavering customer service. Joining the AGA family allows us to honor this legacy while writing a new chapter,” adds Shawn Stals. “I am confident that AGA’s proven track record of successful acquisitions and the strong cultural fit of the two organizations will unlock the full potential of this transaction. I am thrilled to continue working with Quikcard colleagues and to start collaborating with the BeneFitsMyWay and AGA teams as we embark on this exciting journey.”

It is important to note that for now, Quikcard and BeneFitsMyWay operations remain unchanged for clients, cardholders, members and other partners, who can expect the same excellent service. Both teams are already working towards a transition process with the aim of creating a unified and stronger spending account provider by Canadians, for Canadians.
